For exporting pets from Kenya to any destination, the following general requirements apply:
- The pet’s original and up-to-date vaccination card, demonstrating a Rabies inoculation received within the past 12 months, but no less than 30 days prior to travel, unless a 3-year validity is clearly indicated.
- An ID/Microchip certificate for the pet, as most countries and airlines now require it for identification purposes.
- The recipient’s address and phone number in the destination country.
- The owner’s passport details.
- An IATA compliant travel box.
- A copy of the destination country’s Import Permit/license/permission slip, if necessary, specifying their specific import requirements.
- A Veterinary Health Certificate, valid for 3-4 days before the departure date, ensuring that all the destination’s specific requirements are indicated on this certificate.
- An Export Permit from the Kenyan Authorities, valid for 14 days before the departure date.
- An Airway Bill (AWB) from the airline, including the correct Consignee and Notify Party details at the destination.
- All original documents must travel with the dog.
